Royal NLR - Processes

Purpose

The purpose of this template is to show how a platform like Docmost is a very suitable candidate for hosting the NLR documentation in. This entire page is written in Markdown and can be edited in a live web-based editor. By doing things in markdown we guarantee th at even in the future, if Docmost no longer exists, all pages can be easily ported to another markdown based system.

Draw IO Integration

This platform has native Draw.io Integration, meaning you can draw boxes and make diagrams however you want.

The processes above describe the general NLR process.

For the software developers it also supports code blocks.

Comparison with Confluence

This platform feels eerily similar to Confluence and that is because… it is. Docmost and Confluence are both documentation platforms, but they serve different audiences and ambitions.

Confluence is Atlassian's enterprise wiki, deeply tied to Jira and built for large organisations managing complex workflows. This makes it powerful — but also bloated, expensive at scale, and intimidating for contributors who just want to write.

Docmost is open-source, self-hostable, and editor-first. It strips away the noise and focuses purely on structured, readable documentation — making it faster to set up and easier to keep tidy.

For general informational content, Docmost wins on simplicity. There are no competing tools or dashboards cluttering the experience — just pages, spaces, and content that anyone can contribute to without a training session.
